About
Born in Paris, France, Jimmy Chiale was enchanted at a young age with the idea of living like Picasso; in his studio surrounded by paintings and people who would engage in conversation over his work.
He immersed into drawing starting with simple Disney or Manga characters, landscapes, people or animals. And like many child in class he doodled, but his was something else. He knew he fell in love with drawing and felt reassured that this was what he was meant to do once everyone noticed his talent.
When Jimmy moved to Toronto in 2006 he found his own sense of style experimenting with different techniques, mediums and surfaces. Since then he has been commissioned to paint indoor and outdoor murals but he specializes in canvases.
He is inspired by feelings and emotions, sacred geometry and nature. Obsessed with primitive compositions and texture, he says his paintings are windows of the mind and come from the subconscious soul, often a cacophony of sounds and movements applied swiftly on the canvas. A mash up of emotional construction of symbols and representations. His works are an immediate reaction to his environment and daily life, an imprint of his identity at that moment in time.
Although he started selling his paintings on the street corner, He has had many gallery shows and contests during his come up. He organized art parties and huge group shows until he finally opened his Gallery called 416gallery with a roster of 50 local artists. After closing the gallery a couple of years later, Jimmy became a father and has dedicated a lot of time to his son.
He continues to work cooperatively with various artists, companies and brands. His goal is to be able to keep living off his paintings and mark the world.
